Washington, D.C., Oct 29 - Congressman J. Randy Forbes (VA-04) announced today that his senior district representative, Rick Franklin, will hold special office hours weekly for residents from Franklin City, Isle of Wight County, Southampton County and other surrounding localities impacted by the International Paper Mill closure. The special office hours will begin today, October 29, and will be held at 10:00 a.m. every Thursday in the 2nd Floor Conference Room in the City Manager’s office in the Franklin Municipal Building at 207 W. Second Ave.

Rick Franklin will be available to assist individuals with any matter involving the federal government and in referring and coordinating with local, state, and federal agencies.

In addition, Congressman Forbes has developed a special website for residents impacted by the International Paper Mill closure. The site provides a list of resources that are available to families and small businesses, including information on employment training, unemployment assistance, federal job resources, employment assistance for veterans, eligibility for medical assistance programs, loan programs and resources from the U.S. Small Business Administration. The website will be updated as Congressman Forbes' office receives relevant information.

Individuals can access the site at forbes.house.gov/IPresources

Constituents who need further information on the special office hours may contact Rick Franklin in Congressman Forbes’ District Office in Emporia at (434) 634-5575.
